Second Lieutenant Andrews, a little more than a year out of West Point, with a few months of service in the Philippines behind him, reports on a forest fire that he and his 8th Cavalry soldiers fought in their capacity as guardians of Yellowstone National Park. The Army handled constabulary duties in parks until the National Park Service was created in 1916.
